PHP at Foundry Steamboat in Colorado
The Partial Hospitalization Program level of care is between residential treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). PHP is sometimes used as a transitional step after clients complete residential treatment, but not always. For some patients, it is the highest level of care they will need.
Our PHP combines seven days per week of intensive outpatient programming and recovery supportive services to give clients an unusually high level of support and engagement. We have designed a program that helps people build skills and resources to support lasting recovery.

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a structured, intensive level of outpatient care designed for individuals who are medically stable and have a safe, recovery-supportive home environment.
PHP offers more clinical structure than a standard intensive outpatient program, while allowing clients to return home each evening rather than residing in a treatment facility. It is an ideal step-down option for clients transitioning out of residential treatment, as well as a strong starting point for those whose needs do not require round-the-clock supervision.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a short distance from our PHP residence.
Benefits of Partial Hospitalization Program
PHP offers a powerful combination of clinical intensity and real-world flexibility, making it an effective option for men at multiple stages of recovery.
- Structured support: Daily programming keeps clients engaged, accountable, and connected to their treatment team during a vulnerable period of transition.
- Real-world practice: Clients apply coping skills and recovery tools in their daily lives while still receiving intensive therapeutic support.
- Step-down continuity: For clients transitioning from residential treatment, PHP maintains clinical momentum and reduces the risk of relapse during the adjustment period.
- Flexible access: PHP makes high-quality, intensive care accessible to those who do not require 24-hour supervision or residential housing.
- Integrated care: Therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, and continuing care planning are coordinated within a single, unified treatment team.
- Gender-specific programming: Groups and therapy are tailored to the unique experiences and needs of adult men, creating a more comfortable and effective healing environment.
- Seven-day availability: Programming seven days a week ensures consistent care and prevents gaps in support that can increase vulnerability to relapse.
